  • And so it begins…

"All photographs are there to remind us of what we forget."
    John Berger

I forget a lot. On any given day, I am likely to forget a friend's birthday, the name of my parents' dog, or my age. It is not that these things are unimportant, I just honestly battle my memory on a daily basis. I blame the overabundance of information that surges around each of us: tweets, news feeds, radio, Pandora, TV, gossip websites, overheard conversations, intentional conversations -Most days, I don't stand a chance.

When I come across an old picture, I get to step back in time. I can see the details of a room, the pictures hanging from the wall, the way the waves crashed against the shore, a child's first attempt at blowing out a birthday candle. Pictures remind me. They remind me of temporarily forgotten moments-moments that I'm not ready to forget.

As a child, I used to spend the bulk of my $10 allowance on film. Now, I'm lucky enough to get paid to do what I love- document moments in time. I am incredibly blessed to be given this opportunity and I'm excited to share with you some of my favorite photographs.

From an Indiana backyard to the sandy beaches of Florida

Ashli called me with news. “We’re moving the wedding to Florida. Can you still make it?”

“Um…yes!” Beach weddings have a special touch that captures my attention every time-the sound of the waves crashing on the beach, the beautiful sunsets, sand between your toes–YES. Yes, I can be there!

Ashli and Geoff are an entertaining, unique, and fun couple. She is a graphic designer who introduced me to Pinterest (I owe her forever!) and shares my love for cute pooches! He is a former diver who is still amazing at handstands and can do wonders with a hotel iron and a wrinkly suit on his wedding day.

The bridal party was a ridiculous amount of fun and any photography jitters I thought Geoff might have were certainly gone by 1:00pm on his wedding day. He was a ham. More than a ham. Posing, cheesing, and very concerned that he have his own photographer.:)

This wedding was full of surprises and wonderful moments and I’m honored to share them with you!

We found these ridiculous floaties in the hotel lobby store and it didn’t take much to convince Ashli and Geoff that they had to pose in them.I love reflection photographs. Beach reflection photographs=be still my heart!**How cute are these Indiana / Florida designs? Courtesy of the bride-Ashli Heck!

Brooks & Brinley

I was so excited to find that I would be spending a sunny day at the Parthenon with Brooks and Brinley. They were absolutely delightful–practically pros at having their photo taken. We hung out with the ducks, Brooks did cartwheels in the grass, and we climbed a tree-quite the productive day!

Lexi was one of my first senior photo sessions. She graduated a few years ago but I decided to post her session on my blog today because it reminds me of home. Lexi is a total natural in front of the camera and she showcases Indiana well!

So much personality

Need I say more?

He proposed. She said, “YES!”

What are the odds that two kindergarden teachers would meet and fall in love? I mean….they have to be minuscule, right? Enter Brandi & Nick. Two kindergarden teachers-engaged to be wed in June. (Please note Brandi’s perfect teacher handwriting!)

Nick & Brandi trusted me to do all kinds of silly things on their photo shoot and we had a great time! I can’t wait to shoot this summer wedding and maybe newborn photos one day…..:)

(no pressure!)
